News flash: California is huge
Ok friends, I’m being a little facetious. Of course California is a large state. But here’s the part you might not already know.
California today stands as the world’s eighth largest economy. That’s larger than the economies of some developed nations, including Italy and even Russia.
More importantly, this isn’t just about scale. It’s about momentum.
California had more than its share of tough times during the recession, and we took a big hit, but we’ve come a long way since then. I helped lead the way on California’s Economic Growth and Competitiveness Agenda, a blueprint for the state’s future growth, so I know the job we have ahead is big. But if we’re serious about California’s success, then we have to get going.
That means doubling down on education, so California’s workforce can compete for the high tech jobs coming our way. It means fostering an environment that’s inviting to new businesses through smarter regulations and good government. And it means never missing an opportunity to capitalize on the tremendous resources at our disposal, from our farmlands to Silicon Valley to the ports, bridges and airports that keep California moving forward.
I want to hear from you on this. Join us on Facebook and share a story or an insight about what YOU think will drive the most progress in California in the years ahead.
We’re back on track. Now let’s keep it going.
